A Short Bio
My current calling is to present to and to learn from older individuals. My experience working with groups of older people has rewarded me with the joy of authentic learning and with the feeling of belonging to a kindred community.

I like to think of myself as a life-long learner and teacher. I most enjoy being with those learners/teachers who appreciate listening to and sharing stories in person. I have primarily worked as an educator - in many forms - since the 1970s. For many years I was a high school English teacher at Greely High School in Cumberland, Maine. I taught writing, literature, and poetry while also coaching basketball.

Later, I worked at the University of Southern Maine and Muskie School of Public Service as a facilitator, instructor, and project coordinator. I still teach online courses as a part-time instructor with the University's Leadership and Organizational Studies group. As the owner of Bill Maxwell and Associates, I have had the good fortune to teach leadership and change in the US and internationally in Finland and Central America. I have also had the good fortune of growing up on a family farm, working on a highway road crew, and driving a concrete truck.

I am bi-coastal, living in Davis, California with my wife, Cydney Mahoney, and also living in Cape Elizabeth, Maine for parts of the year. We enjoy hiking, biking, traveling, cooking, movies, and sports - among other thing :-)
Between us, we have four children and three grandchildren. Oh, and two cats, one a recluse, one a lap cat.
